Presentation Night

Posted December 18th, 2013 by

So tonight was Presentation Night and overall, I think it went pretty well. Things went mostly to plan, and I didn’t make any mistakes in my cello playing (a welcome change from the norm). The first couple of pieces were quite good; Celebration and Song (Robert Sheldon) was a success, as was the National Anthem (it’s hard for someone to boo that anyway) and Edge of Glory (Lady Gaga) was well received.

Cosmic Girl, however, despite being the most fun to play, was a little shaky… The start wasn’t in time and it ended up sounding quite muddy. Oh well, there’s always something.

This year I got three awards: Academic Excellence, KLDYS program acceptance and GWSC Chang Maths. The Chang Maths award comes with a trophy engraved with the past winners all the way back to 1997. (And of course there’s a photo of it, because I enjoy showing off… Who doesn’t?)

I was lucky enough to be the first name on the 4th plate, so I get to be at the top. I think I’ll have to return this trophy soon though, since it seems to get reused for each winner.

I also got a $50 book voucher; pretty good, although I wish (of course) that I could trade it for cash…

With the conclusion of Presentation Night comes the proper start of the holidays, and coincidently, my birthday, which is tomorrow. All in all, it was a pretty good school year. I managed to do a lot more than I thought I could be bothered doing, and that’s always a good sign.
