No more Maths Methods SACs

Posted September 14th, 2014 by Jason N

So Friday marked the completion of the final Mathematical Methods (CAS) 3&4 SAC for the course. It was a reasonably easy SAC on Probability, though I made a mistake in one part of it, forgetting that $Var\left(4X+5\right)={4}^{2}Var\left(X\right)$. Oh well, it won't really make a difference in the grand scheme of things anyway. At least it's over now - or at least until the exams in November. I reckon I should be able to get a pretty damn good SAC score, although it'll only be worth 34% of the total marks for the subject.

I thought I’d start writing some new tutorials, as I haven’t written any in quite some time. Perhaps a set of HTML tutorials or something, since the old one no longer exists after the loss of data.

That’s all for now. More blogging to come at a later date.

September

Posted September 2nd, 2014 by Jason N

So it’s been September for a little while now, and although the weather outside would disagree, it now appears to be spring. What this really means is that my Mathematical Methods exam is now approaching and I’m to do more revision and the like for the subject. At least it’s only one subject that I really need to be focussing on, rather than the five that I’ll have to deal with next year.

Lately I’ve been doing some programming. Specifically, I’ve been experimenting with lua through making my own alterations to my friend Andrew’s work-in-progress game, Rainbow Arena. That’s been a lot of fun, and an interesting learning experience.

I’ve also been tinkering with D, and trying to get various bindings for libraries I want working with it. I quite like it; it’s familiar to me because of its similarity to C, C++ and Java.

Hopefully I’ll have more to say at a later date. More blogging to come.

Holidays

Posted June 30th, 2014 by Jason N

So end-of-term holidays started a little while ago, which means two weeks free from the hassles of school assignments and SACs. Speaking of SACs, I've learned that I got 100% for the second skills test (i.e. SAC 4) for Maths Methods... I could've gotten 100% on SAC 3 as well, but for some reason I decided to write $\genfrac{}{}{0.1ex}{}{8\pi }{9}$ instead of $\genfrac{}{}{0.1ex}{}{8}{9\pi }$. Oh well, 99% will have to do.

This holidays I plan to actually put some music stuff on the music page (you know, in place of the current ‘no content’ page)… We’ll see how that actually pans out soon.

Other stuff I’m planning to do is write more programs, because I haven’t really done any real programming for quite some time. If I write anything interesting, I’ll put it up here.

That’s all for now.

Mid-year Exams

Posted May 28th, 2014 by Jason N

On Monday, I had my English Unit 1 exam. It went pretty well, I think, 6 pages of Language Analysis. It was a pretty interesting issue, actually, and the author of the article was impeccably sarcastic and cynical. Today, I had a Chemistry exam, which was pretty easy, actually… And it’s out of a possible 84 marks, which means you can lose up to 7 marks and still receive and ‘Outstanding’ grade.

Also today was part two of the Mathematical Methods Unit 3&4 application task. It was probably the easiest application task I’ve ever done, and as far as I could tell, there were no mistakes in it at all. I thought it was a very well written task, so I thank the teacher(s) who created it.

Hopefully I’ll have my marks for all of the SACs and exams that I’ve done some time soon. Onwards to GMA tomorrow.

That’s all for now. More blogging to come.

Eve of Mid-year Exams

Posted May 25th, 2014 by Jason N

So tomorrow will mark the start of my Unit 1 exams…

The first one is English, and luckily the only exam I have on Monday. Hopefully I’ll be able to think of things to write for it. My second exam takes place on Wednesday, and is Chemistry, and I think I’m reasonably prepared for that. Also on Wednesday is Application Task Part 2 for Mathematical Methods 3&4. That, I’m a little more worried about, since last year’s one was so easy, they’ll probably make it really hard (or write it really badly, there’s hardly any difference to me).

On Thursday I have both exams for General Maths Advanced; three hours of examination… That should go okay I guess, I didn’t have a problem with the past two years’ exams. Also on Thursday is the Victorian School Music Festival, which means I’ll be out at Federation Square from 6:30pm and won’t be back until around 11:15pm. That doesn’t leave much time to sleep before my Physics exam 8:30am on Friday… Oh well, Physics is easy anyway.

The following Monday, I have an IT exam… I assume that I know everything that I need to for that exam, but I’ll have to brush up on my excel formula syntax.

That sums up the week and a bit ahead that makes up my exams. More blogging to come during the week.
